Basic introduction to sensory and motor development. Provides lots of easy and fun activities to do from infancy through preschool to school aged to nurture development. Presents the development of communication skills from infancy through pre-school. Also discusses the difference between speech and language development. Useful techniques including use of sign language with infants to facilitate communication will be shared.
Addresses how gross and fine motor skills develop from 1 day old to 5 years old. The emphasis is on developmental milestones building upon each other to allow the development of higher level skills such as handwriting. This useful information includes activities to do with every child to provide a strong gross motor foundation and encourage the development of higher level fine motor skills. Introduction to Sensory Integration covers how the sensory systems develop and influence our ability to learn. Practical information is provided on how to encourage the development and integration of the sensory systems. Introduces behavior that might be seen when one or more of these sensory systems are not integrating. Some of these behaviors can be mislabeled as ADHD/ADD or can occur in conjunction with ADHD/ADD.
